Folklore On Dartmoor
Dartmoor is a place steeped in folklore and mystery. The legends and stories have been passed down through time and generations. Ghostly stories seem to be a favourite and there is none more well known than the story of the hairy hands.

On the road between Postbridge and two bridges, alongside Bellever Forest many years ago, a spate of accidents started to happen, cars inexplicably swerving, horses shying, people losing control for no apparent reason. It was finally decided by the authorities, to alter the camber of the road as there had been so many accidents and a terrified driver whose vehicle had gone off the road, told others of a pair of hairy hands that had appeared from nowhere and wrenched his vehicle off the road. Some accidents were fatal, others lived to tell the tale. Many people reported seeing these hairy hands at this particular spot, many having their vehicles wrenched off the road by them, always on the same section of road. Many people believe that the hairy hands must be of some poor accident victim that lost their life there, which is still haunting the area. For now however, the hairy hands incidents seem to have faded out, but no-one knows for certain if they're gone for good or if they will return again.
